Performance Food Group is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic/Forklift Technician to support our fast-paced wholesale food distribution operations. In this role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair forklifts and material-handling equipment, ensuring safe, reliable performance across our warehouse. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, mechanical and electrical diagnostics, safety checks, and accurate maintenance recordkeeping. You'll collaborate closely with operations teams to minimize downtime while upholding PFG's safety-first, performance-driven culture and contributing to continuous improvement in our distribution network.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on forklifts and material-handling equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation in a warehouse environment
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools, manuals, and technical documentation
  • Complete repairs on engines, brakes, drive systems, masts, batteries, chargers, and safety systems according to manufacturer specifications
  • Conduct regular inspections, safety checks, and documentation in compliance with company and OSHA standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, parts usage, and service records in the company's maintenance system
  • Coordinate with warehouse operations and supervisors to schedule repairs and minimize equipment downtime
  • Order, track, and manage parts and supplies, ensuring availability for critical repairs
  • Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout, and proper use of PPE in a fast paced distribution environment
  • Support continuous improvement by recommending equipment, process, and safety enhancements
  • Assist with training operators on basic equipment care and safe use of forklifts
