Adjunct Instructor, Political Science (TEMPORARY)

Los Medanos College seeks an adjunct (part‑time) instructor in Political Science to teach California Politics and other political science courses. Candidates may teach full‑time in‑person at the Pittsburg/Brentwood campus or fully online asynchronous classes. Opportunities exist for dual enrollment in local high schools.

• Provide instruction following established curriculum, course outlines, and schedules.
• Create an environment that encourages learning, discussion, and critical thinking.
• Assess student progress and assign grades according to department standards.
• Meet with students outside of class as needed.
• Maintain professional conduct, ethics, and up‑to‑date knowledge in the subject matter.
• Maintain accurate academic records and complete any required reporting.
• Fulfill part‑time faculty duties and perform additional duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in political science, government, international relations, or related discipline; or a bachelor’s degree in the same area combined with a master’s in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, ethnic studies, or a JD/LLB.
• Demonstrated interest and experience in teaching California Politics and American Government.

• Hourly pay rate $77.87 – 128.97 per hour (up to $151.16).
• Part‑time faculty salary based on teaching load.
