The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is a full-service fire agency that provides fire suppression, First Responder ALS emergency medical services, 911 ambulance transport, technical rescue, marine firefighting, water rescue, Type II Hazardous Materials Response, heavy fire equipment, fire prevention, and fire investigation services to nine cities and county areas within a 550 square mile jurisdiction. The Fire Prevention Bureau includes Code Enforcement, Engineering, Fire Investigations, Exterior Hazard Control, and Public Education, under the direction of the Fire Marshal.
The Fire Investigation Unit determines the origin and cause of fires and investigates fire-related incidents, including criminal and accidental events, in accordance with Fire Code and California Health and Safety Code. The unit collaborates with local law enforcement to prosecute arsonists. The unit currently consists of one Fire Prevention Captain, six Fire Investigators (two on each shift A, B, and
C), and a Clerk-Specialist.
The District seeks to fill one Fire Investigator position in the Fire Investigation Unit located in Pittsburg, CA. This position is on a 56-hour schedule with two investigators per shift on A, B, or C shift.

License
Required:
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out-of-state licenses accepted during the application process.
Education: An Associate Degree from an accredited college or university, or a Basic certificate from the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training and 60 college credits from an accredited institution.
Certifications: Successful completion of CFSTES Fire Investigations 1A, 1B, and 1C; POS T Certified Penal Code 832 Module A Training and Arrest & Control including firearms training.
