Temporary Nurse Aide (TNA)

Full-Time/Part-Time Contingent

• Provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, as approved by a facility RN and directed by supervisors.
• Delegate administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties.
• Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative and descriptive manner.
• Use only authorized abbreviations established by the facility when recording information.
• Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical.
• Report all accidents and incidents observed during the shift.
• Ensure that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident (bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.).
• Greet residents and escort them to their rooms.
• Assist residents with packing their personal possessions when being transferred to a new room or when being discharged.

• Must be able to demonstrate the skills needed to be a temporary nurse aide to a facility Registered Nurse.
• Must be able to pass a basic math assessment.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
• Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
• Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
