Sales Development Program Sales Associate - Fluid Solutions

Overview

As a Sales Associate on the Fluid Solutions team at United Rentals, you will complete a structured Sales Development Program (SDP) that trains you for a future role as an Outside Sales Representative (OSR). The program combines on‑site training, digital onboarding, and outbound sales campaigns to build technical knowledge, sales technique, and relationship‑building skills.

• Begin training at a local branch, shadowing sales and operational roles to gain a complete equipment‑rental lifecycle perspective.
• Participate in a digital onboarding class that sharpens sales techniques and connects you with peers across North America.
• Execute outbound sales campaigns that expose you to various construction verticals, customer spend levels, and rental types (general vs. specialty).
• Master United Rentals sales tools—including CRM, inventory management platforms, the customer portal, and mobile applications.
• Lead high‑level sales conversations covering price negotiations, multi‑piece rental requests, government and educational agreements, service contracts, and used‑equipment sales.
• Apply proven sales methodologies to deliver solutions and drive revenue growth.
• Engage in local team initiatives such as safety huddles, customer appreciation events, equipment yard sales, and charity drives.
• Track sales development progress via real‑time metrics and weekly peer‑ranked competitions.
• Attend corporate and local leadership meetings, call coaching sessions, and ride‑along visits to jobsites to refine strategies and set realistic goals.

• Complete the 4–6 month SDP before promotion to OSR, with timeline based on performance and market conditions.
• Live within reasonable driving distance of the assigned branch and attend the program on site, Monday through Friday.
• Partner with local and corporate teams to deliver daily feedback and sales insights.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in a customer‑facing sales role preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
• Proficient computer and mobile phone/tablet skills.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Compensation Range: $31.20 – $49.90.
