Semi-Truck Driver

Job Summary

Our company is looking for a skilled and competent Semi Driver to safely and efficiently operate our fleet of heavy-duty trucks to transport goods to transfer destinations. As a Semi Driver, your ability to follow Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). as well as local, state, and federal regulations, are essential to your success in this position.

• Operate semi-trucks in a safe and appropriate manner
• Safely attach and detach the fifth wheel of full or empty semi-trailers throughout the shift
• Ensure proper disposal of waste at the landfill
• Conduct daily maintenance and safety checks of vehicles under your care
• Follow directions from supervisors regarding required work
• Report any unsafe situations, incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage immediately

• Attend safety meetings
• Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or others
• Perform all duties as scheduled by supervisors or Dispatch, assisting other drivers as directed
• Complete and submit all documents
• Completely dump all trailers
• Follow all guidelines and rules set by the landfill or dump location

• Must possess a valid Class A Driver's License
• Class A semi-truck experience preferred
• Ability to safely operate heavy-duty vehicles and properly attach and detach trailers is essential
• Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards
• Ability to work well in a team and follow directions from supervisors
• Physically able to handle and control vehicles; lift heavy objects rarely (less than 25 lbs.).

• Proficiency with navigation technology and route-planning software is a plus

• Must be able to work overtime as scheduled
• Must be flexible to work any shift as scheduled
• Must be able to work in all seasonal weather conditions

• Potential chemical burns/irritations and respiratory injuries from improper handling of chemical products.
• Potential muscle strain, crush, pinch, cut, and ergonomic injury exposures.
• Potential exposure to fire, flying sparks and particulate debris, hot surfaces, and chemicals that can cause irritation.
• Exposure to pedestrian traffic, exhaust fumes, uneven surfaces, and moving equipment/vehicles at site.
• Risk of dropping objects on feet and potential electrocution when handling energized equipment.
• Potential for slips, trips, and falls and hazards associated with improperly handling materials causing strains.
• Intermittent exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
• Exposure to pressurized equipment and tires.
• Exposure to traffic risks on roadways when performing road calls including collisions with other vehicles and pedestrian traffic.
