Under direct supervision, the WWTP Operator Apprentice learns to perform maintenance, cleaning, repairs, construction related activities associated with the wastewater treatment plant. Daily operations duties around the wastewater treatment facility including sample collection, equipment operation, grit removal, chemical preparation, process review, maintenance of buildings, machinery and grounds, odor control system operation, SCADA review and operation, sludge dewatering and conditioning, tank cleaning, assistance to maintenance personnel, chemical feed adjustments, secondary by-pass operation, anaerobic digester operation, calibration of process equipment, lift station inspection, process control, etc.;
other related duties.
This position reports to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. The job position summary, duties and responsibilities are not intended to be, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or competencies with this job. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONSThe primary duties of work are performed outdoors and may include working in adverse weather conditions.
Work may involve 24-hour availability during emergency situations. This will include overtime and call back situations as required.
Work in confined spaces and trench excavations as required.
Requirements- a. Air Brake Endorsement

- c. Automatic Transmission
- d. Standard Transmission – may be optionally required
- a. Kansas Department of Health and Environment Wastewater Treatment Facility Class I Operator Certification
- b. National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) Certification:

Electrical – Level 1.
