Civil Engineer – Water and Wastewater

Location:

Pittsburg, McPherson, KS

Position Type:
Full-Time, On Site

Background

Earles Engineering & Inspection (EEI) - a Pittsburg, KS-based firm delivering civil, structural, environmental, inspection, and surveying services across Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma - has a 30 year record of partnering with municipalities, state agencies, and private developers on water, wastewater, and land development projects.

Position Overview

EEI is seeking a Civil Engineer with a focus on water and wastewater design to join our growing team. This role will work directly with communities on municipal water, sewer, and drainage projects - developing designs, preparing plans and specifications, and communicating regularly with community leaders and staff.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who wants hands-on project ownership, direct client interaction, and the chance to grow with a firm that offers real ownership opportunities down the road.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop municipal water and wastewater systems, including waterlines, sanitary sewers, lift stations, and treatment facilities/lagoons
  • Prepare drainage studies, storm sewer designs, and detention pond layouts
  • Support street and highway design projects as needed
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, plans, and specifications for municipal clients
  • Assist in client management, including regular communication with community leaders and staff
  • Coordinate with project managers and senior engineers on project scheduling, budgets, and deliverables
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 2–10 years of civil engineering experience; minimum 2 years required
  • Experience with water and wastewater design strongly preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus, but not required - candidates without a PE should have a clear interest in pursuing licensure
  • Autodesk Civil 3D experience preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with comfort presenting to and working directly with community leaders and municipal staff
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once
