Description
Intensive Individual Support Lead: IIS Lead is an equipped individual who can provide ABA services while practicing under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or Certified Autism Specialist (CAS). This role will play an essential part in providing behavior intervention and skill acquisition plans that will help the learners to become more autonomous and independent.
Responsibilities- Application of Behavior Plans: BTs work directly with learners diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which includes precisely following the behavior intervention plans (BIP) set forth by the BCBA. Numerous evidence-based strategies are incorporated in these plans to teach skills acquisition while also decreasing disruptive behavior.
- Data Collection and Analysis:
Data collection that is both reliable and valid is imperative for this position. The BT will methodically gather data and evaluate the information to examine progress being made and make informed findings regarding how efficient the intervention is. - Collaboration with Supervisors:
The BT will maintain continuous collaboration with supervisors regarding their learners. This includes updates on a learner’s progress, any identified challenges, and receiving rolling supervision to guarantee high-quality services. - Family and Caregiver Training:
The BT will find that they are often working in close contact with the families and caregivers of the learners by providing services or implementing interventions in the home setting. In doing so, the BT will maintain a continued methodology of behavior management.
- Obtain Certification for Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training. MOAB is an in-depth training program that teaches individuals how to recognize, reduce, and manage violent and aggressive behavior. Training provided.
- MOAB training requires controlled movements, body positioning, and the ability to perform physical holds and restraint techniques.
- The focus of MOAB training is to use techniques that can be effectively applied by employees of varying physical capabilities while minimizing potential harm to both the individual being restrained and the trained themselves.
- Complete required 33 hours of training in ABA practice
- Complete additional training as assigned by Department Director.
Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree from an accredited university in various behavioral health fields, such as clinical psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, rehabilitation, or a closely related degree, is preferred. Experience in lieu of or in addition to education may be considered. Previous experience in a community mental health center working with individuals with mental illness or substance abuse is preferred.
Experience in the person helping professions and occupations is desired and helpful.
- Be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English language.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Operate office equipment.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with individuals with mental illness or addiction.
- Ability to operate effectively within a wide variety of human service situations.
- Be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to move freely in the community and in a wide variety of circumstances. Special accommodation that can successfully assist an incumbent will be provided.
- Be able to get on the floor and rise without assistance
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
