Patient Care Associate-PCA; Non-Exempt

Job Description

Assists in the individualized care of the patient under the direction of the RN or LPN to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non‑clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum, or current Mercy co‑worker.
• Licensure: None required.
• Experience: None required.
• Training Requirements: In Missouri, a required 175‑hour training program must be completed within 90 days of hire. In Oklahoma and Arkansas, completion of state‑specific PCA competency requirements. BLS required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months.
• Physical Requirements: Must push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs regularly; prolonged standing and walking each shift; must be able to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
• Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
