Senior Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our accounting team, with a strong focus on lease accounting under ASC 842. This role will serve as a subject matter expert for lease accounting and play a critical part in financial reporting, month-end close, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience managing lease portfolios, interpreting complex lease agreements, and ensuring accurate accounting and reporting of lease transactions.

• Own and manage end-to-end lease accounting under ASC 842, including:
• Initial lease recognition
• Lease modifications, remeasurements, and terminations
• Right-of-use (ROU) asset and lease liability calculations
• Maintain and administer lease accounting systems (e.g., Lease Query or similar)
• Review and analyze lease agreements to determine appropriate accounting treatment and classification (operating vs. finance leases)
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and roll-forwards related to leasing activity
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Real Estate, Legal, FP&A, Operations) to evaluate lease agreements and ensure proper accounting setup
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors regarding lease-related matters
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC 842 standards, including disclosure requirements
• Identify process improvements and strengthen internal controls related to lease accounting
• Perform variance analysis and provide insights to leadership
• Assist with additional accounting and reporting responsibilities as needed

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong, hands-on experience with ASC 842 lease accounting (required)
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting

Preferred:

• CPA or CPA-eligible
• Experience with lease accounting systems such as Lease Query
• ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, or similar)
• Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-location organizations

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, complex formulas)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
