A growing, consumer goods manufacturing organization in the Pittsburgh area is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to join its accounting team. This is a hands-on role with strong visibility across operations, supply chain, and leadership. The organization offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment where employees contribute directly to financial accuracy, reporting, and overall business performance.
Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and interpreting accurate financial information in accordance with GAAP and internal policies. This role supports key accounting functions across general ledger, financial reporting, and operational analysis while partnering closely with cross-functional teams.
Senior Staff AccountantKey Responsibilities
The Senior Staff Accountant will review and process vendor invoices and credit memos accurately and efficiently
Prepare and execute weekly accounts payable check runs and maintain AP documentation
Post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy using an ERP system
Prepare, analyze, and interpret monthly financial statements, including gross margin, income, and expense reporting
The Senior Staff Accountant will conduct monthly variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year results
Prepare supplemental financial reporting for management as needed
Support month-end close activities and ensure timely reporting deadlines are met
Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation
Provide accounting support to Supply Chain, Operations, and Management teams
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, consumer goods, or food production
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Experience with cost accounting strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central preferred)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
