LHH is partnering with a growing construction organization for an experienced Assistant Controller to support the accounting and finance function. This role will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, assist with month-end close, financial reporting, job cost accounting, and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information across multiple projects and entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, construction industry experience, and a hands‑on approach to managing complex financial processes in a fast‑paced environment.

ey Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze project profitability, job costs, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
- Ensure accurate accounting for construction contracts, change orders, retainage, and revenue recognition.
- Review and approve accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll transactions.
- Assist in preparing bank reporting packages, financial covenant compliance reporting, and lender requests.
- Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and support interactions with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
- Partner with project managers and operational leadership to provide financial analysis and project performance insights.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff while helping develop and improve departmental processes.
- Support ERP system enhancements, reporting automation efforts, and other special projects.
Qualifications:
- BS in Accounting
- CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including construction industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
- Experience with WIP schedules, job cost accounting, percentage-of-completion accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Proficiency in ERP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Compensation:
$90,000-$120,000
