FINANCE & ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Nonprofit Organization | Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)
$75,000- $90,000 + Benefits
A growing nonprofit organization is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations and support the organization’s fiscal health and long-term sustainability.
This is a hands-on role responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, grant and contract accounting, audit coordination, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit accounting experience and be comfortable working with multiple funding sources, including government contracts and grants.
OVERVIEW OF THE FINANCE & ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and provide budget-to-actual analysis.
- Manage financial aspects of grants and government contracts, including billing, reimbursements, reporting, and tracking.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, funding requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Coordinate annual audits and assist with Form 990 and other regulatory filings.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
- Partner with executive and program leadership on financial planning and decision-making.
- Supervise accounting staff and external financial partners as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE FINANCE & ACCOUNTING MANAGER POSITION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
- Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with grants, government contracts, and/or multiple funding sources.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, GAAP, and financial reporting.
- Audit and budgeting experience.
Preferred: CPA, Single Audit/Uniform Guidance experience, and experience with DHS, CYF, behavioral health, or human services funding.
