Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payable operations for a long-term contract opportunity in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong invoice processing experience, accuracy in financial coding, and confidence handling payment activities in a fast-paced setting. The selected candidate will help maintain timely vendor payments and contribute to the smooth execution of core accounting tasks while providing coverage during an extended leave.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices accurately and enter payment details into the accounting system with proper account coding.

- Review billing documentation for completeness, resolve discrepancies, and follow up as needed to ensure timely approval and payment.

- Prepare and execute payment activities, including ACH transactions and scheduled check runs.

- Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation for audit readiness and internal tracking.

- Work closely with accounting and business partners to address vendor questions and clarify invoice or payment issues.

- Monitor due dates and prioritize workloads to support on-time disbursements and consistent cash flow practices. Requirements - Demonstrated experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Practical knowledge of invoice coding and general ledger account allocation.

- Hands-on experience processing ACH payments and coordinating check runs.

- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume transactional work accurately.

- Ability to communicate clearly when researching payment issues or resolving invoice discrepancies.

- Proficiency with standard accounting systems and common business software tools.
