Reports To:

Camp Director

Concept:
Residential Camp Counselor aids the Camp Director in planning and implementing an effective summer camp program ensuring a quality camp experience for every camper:

Accountability:
Camp Counselors report to the Camp Director.

Responsibilities
  • Assists the Director and/or Assistant Director in planning and implementing group activities that are fun, safe and appropriate for campers.
  • Assists the Director and/or Assistant Director in helping camp participants with their self-help and self-care skills.
  • Assists the Director and Assistant Director in site preparation and clean up.
  • Communicates positively and effectively with campers, other staff, families and volunteers.
  • Executes all required written documentation as requested by the supervisor including, but not limited to, daily Direct Service Form for each camper..
  • Adheres to the agency’s health and safety policies, procedures and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensures that the Camp Director is made aware of all matters relating to campers’ safety and well-being.
  • Assists campers in order for them to participate fully in the Camp Program.
  • Promotes camper independence by providing care, support and choice options.
  • Completes all documentation as requested by the Camp Director including but not limited to the Daily Direct Service Form for each camper.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Camp Director
Qualifications
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work with teens and adults with special needs
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lead activities and act as a role model for campers and fellow staff
  • Must be able to stay overnight in the camp cabins for training week and while the camp is in session.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
