About the Role Trumbull Corp is seeking proven field leaders to lead field crews performing underground storm drainage, sanitary sewer, waterline, culvert, inlet, manhole, and related heavy civil work. This working foreman plans daily operations, directs labor and equipment, verifies line and grade, maintains production and quality, and ensures work is completed safely in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities Lead, direct, and work alongside pipe and drainage crews on heavy highway and civil construction projects.

Plan daily work; assign labor, equipment, tools, and materials; communicate production goals; and adjust operations as field conditions change.

Interpret construction drawings, profiles, specifications, cut sheets, and utility plans; establish and verify line, grade, elevation, slope, and layout.

Supervise trench excavation, bedding, pipe installation, jointing, structures, testing, backfill, compaction, dewatering, restoration, and erosion-control activities.

Coordinate equipment operators, laborers, truck drivers, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, survey personnel, and project supervision.

Confirm required materials are available and inspect pipe, structures, bedding, and completed work for compliance before cover or backfill.

Monitor crew productivity and workmanship; track installed quantities, labor hours, equipment usage, deliveries, delays, and field conditions.

Complete daily reports, time records, material tickets, safety documentation, and other required project records accurately and promptly.

Identify conflicts involving existing utilities, access, grades, drainage, design, or site conditions and promptly escalate issues to project supervision.

Protect existing utilities and improvements; maintain an orderly work area; and support traffic-control, environmental, and public-safety requirements.

Train, coach, and mentor crew members in safe work methods, proper installation practices, equipment awareness, and production expectations.

Perform hands-on labor and operate small tools or equipment when needed to maintain safe and efficient production.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities Lead by example and enforce company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements.

Conduct daily pre-task planning, toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and crew briefings.

Inspect excavations, access and egress, spoil placement, protective systems, lifting operations, equipment clearances, and work zones before and during work.

Ensure proper trench protection, shoring, shielding, sloping, benching, utility-location, atmospheric-testing, fall-protection, and confined-space practices are used when applicable.

Stop work when unsafe conditions exist and immediately report incidents, near misses, utility strikes, property damage, and environmental concerns.

Ensure required personal protective equipment is used and all crew members understand the day's hazards and controls.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.

Three or more years of underground utility, pipe, drainage, or heavy civil construction experience, including demonstrated crew-lead or foreman responsibility.

Practical knowledge of storm drainage, sanitary sewer, waterline, culvert, inlet, manhole, trenching, bedding, backfill, and compaction operations.

Ability to read and apply plans, profiles, specifications, grades, elevations, and basic construction calculations.

Working knowledge of excavation hazards, trench protective systems, rigging awareness, utility locating, and safe equipment interaction.

Strong leadership, communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to direct a crew while maintaining positive working relationships with project personnel, inspectors, and the public.

Ability to complete accurate daily documentation using paper or electronic systems.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to assigned jobsites.

Preferred Qualifications OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction certification.

Competent Person training for excavation and trenching.
