Construction Estimator

Prepare detailed estimates for the project based on the construction drawings and specifications. Communicate bids and scopes of work.

Reports to:

Lead Estimator, Senior Estimator, or Preconstruction Manager. Essential duties and responsibilities include preparing detailed estimates, assembling bids and proposals, leading document management, serving as a liaison with trade partners and the design team, supporting constructability reviews, developing value analysis studies, gaining comprehension of factors required for comprehensive trade package scope, preparing scope requisitions, preparing comparison analysis, obtaining and evaluating trade partner proposals, managing action items, supervising assistant estimators, and performing other activities as assigned.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and minimum of 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices is required. Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule is necessary. Knowledge of estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis is required.

Conceptual ability, project management skills, familiar with operating procedures and methods of other departments, professional verbal and written communication skills, proficient computer skills, and familiarity with estimating software are also necessary. Limited travel is required.

Physical demands include sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reaching with hands and arms; talking or hearing; viewing a computer monitor; using a computer keyboard; being mobile; lifting and moving up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; and working on-site at construction work sites, office locations, and off-site venues. Work environment includes regular office setting, occasional construction work sites, exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
