Classical Radio Production Coordinator

Reports to:
Executive Producer
WQED seeks an organized, technically skilled Classical Radio Production Coordinator to support the daily programming and production of Classical WQED and its Voice of the Arts programs. This position edits and prepares audio, assists with playlists and program schedules, coordinates guests and events, and maintains the materials and records needed for reliable broadcast and digital distribution.
Reporting to the Executive Producer, the coordinator works closely with hosts, musicians, arts organizations, and cross-functional colleagues.
Key Responsibilities- Professional experience in radio, audio, podcast, broadcast production, arts programming, or a comparable environment.
- Strong audio editing and production skills using professional broadcast or digital-audio software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to manage multiple schedules, files, and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with hosts, guests, artists, and community partners.
- Ability to follow established programming direction, production procedures, technical standards, and approval processes.
- Knowledge of or genuine interest in classical music and the arts and cultural life of southwestern Pennsylvania.
- Ability to work on site and support scheduled evening and weekend broadcasts, performances, and events. Evening and weekend hours are scheduled and compensated in accordance with WQED's overtime policies.
- Experience in public media, nonprofit media, classical radio, arts administration, or a cultural organization.
- Experience coordinating live events, guests, recording sessions, or remote productions.
- Video editing, digital publishing, or social-media production experience.
- Familiarity with broadcast audio standards, music scheduling systems, traffic or automation systems, and digital asset management.
- Experience supporting or training interns, volunteers, or emerging professionals.
The compensation band for this full-time position is $23.00–$28.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Benefits include a PPO health insurance plan; employer-paid dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; and—after 12 months—a 5% employer contribution to a 403(b) retirement plan.
