The Axel Group is seeking a Project Architect to lead the design, technical execution, and consultant coordination of wood-frame multifamily residential projects. This role oversees drawing production, ensures code compliance, and guides projects from early design through construction.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in multifamily construction, is highly proficient in Revit, and can confidently lead teams while maintaining schedule, quality, and consistency across deliverables.
Key Responsibilities- Lead architectural design and documentation for wood-frame multifamily projects from schematic design through construction
- Manage and coordinate drawing production using Revit (primary) and AutoCAD
- Oversee and review work prepared by architectural designers and junior staff
- Coordinate with structural, MEP, civil, and specialty consultants to ensure integrated project delivery
- Perform code analysis, life safety planning, zoning review, and accessibility compliance
- Serve as the primary architectural point of contact for internal teams and external consultants
- Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and architectural field issues during construction
- Ensure drawing quality, consistency, and adherence to firm standards
- Support project scheduling, staffing, and deadline management
- Assist with permitting, agency reviews, and AHJ coordination
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- Registered Architect (RA) required
- 7–10 years of professional experience with a strong focus on multifamily residential projects
- Advanced proficiency in Revit; strong working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Thorough understanding of building codes, zoning ordinances, and accessibility requirements
- Proven ability to lead project teams and manage consultants
- Experience producing and reviewing full construction document sets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with podium, wrap, or mixed-use multifamily projects
- Construction administration experience, including site observations
- Experience working directly with developers, owners, and contractor teams
- Knowledge of energy codes and residential sustainability requirements
- Experience with entitlement processes and AHJ coordination
- Salary range: $90,000–$110,000 annually, based on with experience
