Located in Bryn Mawr, PA (metropolitan Philadelphia), Barrack is the premier Jewish day school in the Delaware Valley, attracting students from Philadelphia and its suburbs, Allentown, New Jersey, and Delaware. The school integrates a comprehensive and rigorous college preparatory curriculum with the teaching of essential Jewish and American values and texts.
Guided by our four Derech Eretz values of Honor, Moral Courage, Kindness, and Community, Barrack values diversity, celebrates the richness of Judaism's language, culture, and history, and is strongly connected to Israel. Barrack prepares future leaders of the American, Jewish, and global communities who work for a better world through acts of justice and compassion.
Barrack Hebrew Academy is seeking a student-centered, engaging, creative educator to grow and teach in our Business and Entrepreneurship Institute beginning in the school year. As part of The Barrack Institutes, the candidate will continue to imagine and build the program, in consultation with school leadership, within our overall Upper School offerings. Business and Entrepreneurship courses expose interested students to material and experience within these areas while also providing opportunities for focused-learning and group and individual projects.
Additionally, relevant elective courses will be offered to upper school and middle students. The teacher will also be the club advisor for DECA, a nationwide business program in which our school participates.
The ideal candidate will mentor our students within an environment dedicated to skill-development, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and teamwork, alongside every student’s personal growth and the development of one’s individual passions within the areas of Business and Entrepreneurship.
In addition to overall leadership of the program and courses, the appropriate candidate equally enjoys working with middle and high school students and teaching and mentoring students of all levels and backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will have a background, experience, and/or educational training in Business/Entrepreneurship/Economics/Education or relevant areas and be able to engage students around a wide variety of topics, which may include the basics or foundational elements of budgeting, marketing, leadership, economics, product development, basic finance, or a range of other areas. The candidate will have a passion for teaching students to think resourcefully, critically, creatively, and ethically.
The use of case studies and project-based learning should supplement and bolster all traditional content so that students will feel eager and excited to apply their learning to the “real world.”
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to Stanley Shmia: sshmia.
