After School Explorers Music Instructor
The After-School Explorers [ASE] program provides extended-day care and enrichment classes for PK-5th grade students at Shady Side Academy's Junior School campus in Point Breeze. ASE Music Instructors work with individual students in half hour lessons once per week while school is in session. Students have the opportunity to study guitar, piano, and, in some cases, violin or percussion instruments. Lessons are offered for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, and for all ability levels.
Immediate opening for Monday-Friday: 3-6pm, weekly beginning August 25 for the school year. Payment is competitive and commensurate with experience. Interviews for this position will begin on or around August 5th, 2026.
Compensation: $25-35 hourly, commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching and engaging elementary-aged students, with a proven track record of success providing private piano, vocal, and instrumental music instruction.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and energy in making a difference in the lives of students.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying learning styles, needs and interest.
- Provides a safe environment for students.
- Collaborate with After School Staff, and be willing to lend additional supervisory support when needed.
