DESCRIPTIONThe College of Arts, Sciences, and Professional Studies at Gwynedd Mercy University invites applications for a faculty position in the Computer Science Program. The College seeks a highly qualified and innovative educator with a demonstrated commitment to a hands‑on, student‑centered teaching philosophy and excellence in undergraduate instruction.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching core undergraduate courses such as networking, relational databases, and web design, in addition to courses that support the department’s academic concentrations in cybersecurity and computer forensics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and web design and multimedia, as well as a minor in data analytics. Instruction will include programming languages and technologies such as Python, C++, R, SQL, HTML, and CSS.
The faculty member will be expected to design and implement engaging, experiential learning opportunities through laboratory instruction, applied projects, and real‑world applications, while continuously revising and enhancing course materials to reflect current industry standards, practices, and emerging technologies. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to integrate modern tools and innovative andragogical approaches into the curriculum, remain current with advancements in the field, and contribute to student success and program development.
- Teach undergraduate computer science courses.
- Collaborate with the Computer Science Program Director to strengthen recruitment and retention efforts, develop and revise curriculum, and contribute to continual assessment and improvement.
- Mentor students in undergraduate research projects.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in computer science, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, or related field.
- Relevant professional or industry experience in computer science or a related field is strongly preferred, particularly in areas aligned with cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, or software development.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and strong learning outcomes.
- Ability to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth of the program, particularly through ongoing curricular development and revision.
- Experience and facility with industry technologies, certificates, and certifications.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects.
- Experience with on-ground, hybrid, and online teaching modalities.
- Experience with Canvas or other LMS.
- Multilingual skills are preferred.
