POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Curriculum Center Director, this position has responsibility for managing patron-centered services in the Curriculum Center during scheduled hours. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping others and has a strong commitment to customer service, providing a friendly, welcoming experience to each patron. Hours will be determined by need but will primarily be evenings and weekends with a willingness to work a non-traditional schedule that is contingent on departmental needs and/or semester.

Duties include providing courteous and efficient services to library patrons; assisting with social media; assisting with creating and maintaining the Curriculum Center webpage and Lib Guides; projects as assigned; and other duties as necessary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creates a welcoming and safe environment for patrons and staff through active listening, engaging and articulate communication and efficient problem-solving, serving as the primary point of contact and handling interactions with patience, kindness and professional empathy;

Assists Curriculum Center Director with day-to-day needs;

Assists with creative vision of physical and digital special projects as assigned;

Coordinate social media initiatives and assist with Curriculum Center web presence;

Assists library users with Ellison Machine and technology components in the Curriculum Center;

Maintains security of Curriculum Center, while being alert and mindful of the happenings in the building. Contact appropriate personnel when needed.

Employs attention to detail in laminating and binding projects;

Open/close the Curriculum Center following the procedural checklist;

Assists in the oversight of work carried out by student assistants as needed;

Shelves and maintains organization of materials.

Completes other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field, preferable education from an accredited educational institution.

Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Working knowledge of a library;

Strong commitment to customer service;

Strong organizational skills;

Strong computer literacy and experience with any variety of technology, including social media;

Ability to maneuver book carts and move books, including reaching and lifting;

Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills are required, with written communication provided to Curriculum Center Director at end of each shift.

The candidate must be able to learn and perform assigned tasks with little supervision and be able to work cooperatively with colleagues, staff, students and patrons.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
