Building Substitute Special Education Teacher
This position is responsible for providing classroom coverage to Special Education classes, including planning, instructing and/or adapting the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences. Substitutes will be expected to attend IEP meetings and perform any other duties provided by the Special Education Teacher, on an as-needed basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation.Monitors students' progress in and outside special education room.Maintains physical environment of the classroom.Maintains contact with parents of students.Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions of the IEPPrepares report cards, educational records, classroom observation records, and other forms as necessary.Qualifications:
Valid PA certification in Special Education PK-8 or N-12 required.Experience working with the special education school age population preferred.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to build trust and positive working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholder groups.Excellent collaboration and leadership skills.Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.Self-motivator, independent, cooperative, flexible, creative, and responsible.Ability to comply with the AIU Conduct policy.Additional Requirements:
Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.Working Conditions:
