Career Development Assistant Director
Oversees academic and student development components for the department by executing initiatives, managing training programs, directing special projects, and counseling students. Essential functions include providing career advising/counseling to law students and recent graduates, offering guidance on resume writing, interview preparation, job searching strategies, and other career-related skills. Grows and cultivates relationships with existing employer contacts; establishes relations with new employer contacts.
Maintains a network of contacts with law firms, business, nonprofit, and government employers to facilitate and expand job opportunities, internships, work assignments, immersion opportunities, and other career opportunities for students. Participates in broader legal community initiatives, associations, organizations, etc. Develops, delivers, and supports programming to facilitate the professional development of students and recent alumni (including planning, coordinating, and leading workshops and programs that address career exploration, resume writing, job searching, professional networking, and interviewing skills;
planning and executing career fairs, networking events, and other employer connection opportunities). Administers and interprets assessments and other tests and evaluates results to match students' strengths, interests, aptitudes, and personalities to career options and identify opportunities for further development. Physical effort little required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
