Long-Term Substitute Social Worker

The Mt. Lebanon School District has an immediate need for a Long-Term Substitute Social Worker anon High School. This is a full-time, on-site, temporary assignment, effective at the start of the  school year, through a date to be determined, but anticipated to be October 30, 2026 (anticipated 56 days). Due to the length of the assignment, this position will be paid the degree level daily rate at step 1 of the teachers' salary schedule with rates starting at $297 per day depending upon credential.

This position will not be eligible for paid time off or district subsidized health benefits.

Required:

Active Specialist Certificate from the Pennsylvania Department of Education in School Social Worker PK-12.

In order to be eligible for employment, the following clearances must be furnished and approved for hire at time of job offer:
Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151) Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (Act 34) FBI Federal Criminal History Record (Act 114) The following additional trainings and forms are required upon hire:
Act 126 Child/Student Abuse Recognition and Reporting Arrest or Conviction Form (PDE 6004) (Act 24) School Personnel Health Record (Physical with TB Test) Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Information (Act 168)

Summary The mission of the Student Support Specialist is to enhance the social and emotional growth and academic outcomes of all students. The framework is designed to support all students by promoting student well-being and personal success.

Student Support Specialist services are an integral part of the education of all children by collaborating with educators, families, and the community to reduce barriers to student learning and enhance positive mental wellness. Services focus on enhancing the student's ability to acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for becoming a healthy, productive individual. This staff is committed to provide services to students in a way that builds upon individual strengths, respects diversity and life experiences, prioritizes personal goals, and fosters meaningful relationships.

The ultimate goal is to promote and support students' academic and social success.

• Provide academic support in the area of Executive Functioning, including organizational, study, and test- taking skills.
• Coordinate special educational services including 504 service agreements, attend IEP and GIEP conferences, and assist in coordinating school and community resources.
• Manage the process of determining eligibility for accommodations under Section 504 and write and implement new 504 Service Agreements.
• Coordinate the homebound process to ensure a smooth, continuous flow of education.

• Provide individual support for those students who experience social/emotional problems and/or adjustment difficulties, in addition to assisting with risk assessments.
