CDP Solutions has been retained to identify a talented Metallurgical Engineer for a client located in the Pittsburgh PA market.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Metallurgical Engineer to support the development, testing, processing, and quality improvement of metal materials and manufacturing processes. The Metallurgical Engineer will analyze material performance, investigate failures, optimize heat treatment and production methods, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet engineering, safety, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and evaluate metals, alloys, and material processing techniques.
- Analyze material properties including strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, and durability.
- Support manufacturing operations through process optimization and troubleshooting.
- Conduct metallurgical failure analysis and root cause investigations.
- Oversee heat treatment, casting, forging, welding, and other metallurgical processes.
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and material recommendations.
- Collaborate with production, quality, R&D, and engineering teams to improve product performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
- Monitor and improve material performance and production efficiency.
- Assist in vendor qualification and raw material evaluation.
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering discipline.
- Strong understanding of ferrous or non-ferrous metallurgy.
- Knowledge of material testing methods and metallurgical analysis techniques.
- Experience with heat treatment, welding, casting, or manufacturing processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and standards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with metallurgical laboratory equipment and engineering software.
Our client offers a strong base salary plus targeted bonus. In addition, the client offers an excellent benefits package including 401(k), profit sharing, medical and dental coverage, disability insurance, life insurance and training programs.
Salary: $110,000 - $125,000
Bonus: $10,000 - $15,000
Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000
