Senior Level Environmental Engineer/ Geologist/ Scientist

TRC is seeking a highly motivated senior level Environmental Engineer/ Geologist/ Scientist to join our growing Engineering, Construction and Remediation team in our Pittsburgh office. The position requires a strong technical background in environmental investigation and remediation and a solid track record of identifying, building and maintaining key client relationships. The successful candidate will provide planning, investigation, and strategic support for projects primarily in Pennsylvania.

The candidate must be familiar with processes, procedures, and regulations to provide senior-level leadership, deliverable preparation support and review for environmental evaluations, assessments, investigations, permitting, and remediations from project identification through completion. Also desired is demonstration of these qualities applied within large multi-disciplinary team(s). The successful candidate will have a broad network of industry contacts and will be expected to generate business and recruit and manage clients.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior scientists/engineering staff in preparation of reports, interpreting regulations, and other facets of environmental consulting.

Responsibilities

· Direct medium-to-large, complex projects to ensure internal and external expectations are met for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.

· Assist during proposal development including preparation of work scopes and budgets.

· Develop and track multiple project budgets, scopes and schedules for regulatory submittals and other consulting documents.

· Generate business, market to and recruit new clients, and manage work for those clients.

· Identify and develop new business opportunities, and deliver responsive, high-quality services.

· Interpret geological, hydrogeological, and chemical data from contaminated sites to evaluate and design/optimize soil and groundwater remediation systems, including developing strategy, rationale and cost estimates.

· Perform Quality Analysis/Quality Control of deliverables related to projects and tasks managed, as well as projects and tasks managed by others, and are responsible for implementation of the firms' quality procedures at project and task levels.

· Assist in training and mentoring of junior engineers and scientists/geologists to facilitate growth.

· Write and review technical documents, reports and engineering designs, ensuring quality and consistent delivery of materials.

· Interface with and develop a rapport and positive relationship with our clients and employees.

· Contribute to a learned community: pursue educational & professional opportunities; train and teach staff, peers and supervisors; share new technologies, techniques, and resources.

· Have positive health and safety behaviors.

· Maintain a billable utilization target.

· Have strong communications skills, both written and oral.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science.

· 15-30 years of environmental investigation, compliance or groundwater remediation consulting or design experience.

· NJDEP Licensed Site Remediation Professional in good standing
· Knowledge of Pennsylvania Act 2 Land Recycling Program

· Prefer demonstrated work experience in any of the following areas: environmental compliance, soil and groundwater investigations, and design and implementation of in-situ remediation technologies.

· Experience interfacing with storm water design and SWPPP/SPCC preparation is beneficial but not required.

· Working knowledge of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and federal environmental regulations (RCRA, OPA, NPDES, ISRA, PA Act 2, PA WQM, NCP, CERCLA/TRRP, etc.)

· Project management experience in budgeting, scheduling, procurement, coordination of teams of contractors, and client interactions.

· Technical project expertise in environmental investigations, remediation, and environmental compliance.
