Controls Engineer

Join our team as a Controls Engineer - drive innovation in oil and gas production! Are you a talented electrical and automation engineer passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology in the oil and gas industry? We're seeking a dynamic Controls Engineer to lead automation and instrumentation efforts that keep operations safe, efficient, and cutting-edge. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of automated control systems across upstream production sites, collaborating with field teams, vendors, and project managers to optimize performance and safety.

Your expertise will directly impact reliable production and industry-leading standards in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on experience with automation hardware such as PLCs, RTUs, Coriolis meters, wireless transmitters, and multivariable sensors.
  • Strong knowledge of communication systems including cellular modems, radio networks, and field protocols.
  • Proven track record of programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting industrial control systems in oil and gas settings.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing projects and supervising technicians and contractors.
  • Commitment to safety standards such as OSHA, HAZWOPER, LOTO, and Confined Space procedures.

Nice to Have

Skills:

  • Familiarity with SCADA/Telemetry systems and modern automation best practices.
  • Experience with wireless communications for remote asset control.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and current technologies related to PLC, HMI, and field instrumentation.
  • Background in electrical or industrial construction supervision, or military training in electrical systems.

Preferred

Education and Experience:

  • Technical certifications in instrumentation, controls, or electrical systems.
  • Significant experience working within oil and gas production environments, managing large-scale automation projects.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively under pressure and meet project deadlines.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid safety certifications including OSHA, HAZWOPER, Confined Space, and DOT HAZMAT.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams.
