Civil EIT 1
GAI Consultants, Inc is seeking an EIT 1 to work within our Civil and Environmental Business Sector. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment that will utilize their related experience to develop professionally and grow in today's global environment. This position is eligible for GAI's flexible hybrid work schedules.
Job duties include planning, designing, and facilitating civil engineer project design tasks, undertaking technical and feasibility studies, collaborating with other professionals and discussing requirements with clients, using computer programs to develop detailed designs, ensuring that work products meet client, environmental, and safety requirements, performing work under professional engineering staff, handling basic design challenges but referring more complex issues to higher-level staff, possessing beginning knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil engineering design tasks, and strong team collaboration, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
This position requires local/regional travel and should be expected to be 20-40% (1-2 days per week as needed for project-related work/occasional overnight travel).
Physical requirements include ability to work indoors in professional office settings, ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks, frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment, visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work, occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings.
Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance. Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings. Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes.
General characteristics include possessing foundational engineering concepts through undergraduate-level education, acquiring basic knowledge and developing basic skills through mentored experience, applying learned knowledge and skills to perform assigned tasks, and performing routine technical work which does not require previous experience.

Education:
B.S. or M.S. Engineering. Certification/Licensure:
Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and obtained engineer-in-training (EIT) or engineering-intern (EI) certification.
Technical responsibilities include collecting data and gathering information or documents, participating in laboratory testing and field investigations, performing basic computations or analysis, assisting with preparation of engineering deliverables, and observing construction activities.
Project and task management includes responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope. No managerial responsibilities at this level. Receives close supervision on all aspects of assignments. Receives mentorship from a licensed engineer.
Communication skills include possessing basic oral and written communication skills. Identifies and acknowledges principles of teamwork and leadership. Interacts primarily with internal project team members.
