What You'll Do
As a Drafter/Designer, you'll play a key role in the planning, design, and documentation of gas utility and infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include:
* Creating and revising detailed engineering drawings using AutoCAD and related design tools
* Interpreting engineering drawings, standards, and specifications to develop effective design solutions
* Supporting engineers and project teams throughout all phases of project development
* Preparing project documentation, including permits, easements, and regulatory submissions
* Ensuring all designs comply with company standards and applicable state and federal regulations
* Maintaining accurate project records within computerized documentation systems
* Managing multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines and quality expectations
* Monitoring project reports and resolving outstanding items in a timely manner
* Collaborating with engineers, designers, project teams, and clients to ensure successful project delivery
* Promoting a culture of safety by incorporating safety considerations into all design activities
* Completing required training, timesheets, and project-related administrative tasks accurately and on time
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
* Minimum 1 year of AutoCAD drafting and design experience
* Minimum 1 year of experience supporting horizontal infrastructure projects, such as:
* Gas or utility systems
* Pipelines
* Telecommunications
* Construction projects
* Related infrastructure environments
* Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
* Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
* Ability to work occasional overtime and travel locally as project needs require
Preferred Qualifications
* Associate's degree or higher in CAD Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field
* Experience supporting gas utility or pipeline projects
* Knowledge of permitting, easement preparation, and regulatory documentation
* Familiarity with project management principles and workflow coordination
* Consulting experience supporting multiple utility clients
* Positive attitude, strong initiative, and eagerness to grow professionally

Work Environment
This position is based in downtown Pittsburgh, PA, and follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation of being in the office approximately 1-2 days per week. The remainder of the time can be worked remotely. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary engineering and design team on a variety of gas utility and infrastructure projects while utilizing industry-leading tools including AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Occasional overtime and local travel may be required to support project milestones and client needs.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $36.00/hr.
