Position Overview
Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation) – The Department of Transportation seeks an experienced senior civil engineer supervisor to lead maintenance and construction projects across the region. This role shapes safe, reliable transportation systems, plans projects, supports field crews, and resolves complex engineering challenges to impact Pennsylvania communities.
Responsibilities- Project Planning:
Develop programs, estimates, and work plans for maintenance operations and future projects. - Engineering Analysis:
Review complex issues, perform technical evaluations, and recommend safe, effective solutions. - Crew Supervision:
Oversee maintenance crews, assign tasks, inspect work, and support training and performance reviews. - Operational Oversight:
Manage materials, equipment, permits, and emergency response activities for the assigned area. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Meet with local officials and partner organizations to discuss priorities and address project needs.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours:
7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch. - Telework:
Not available. - Salary:
Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; OR
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists, plus an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; OR
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Valid driver’s license.
- PA residency requirement waived for this title.
- Applicant must be able to perform essential job functions.
