Emissions Monitoring & Repair Technician

The Emissions Monitoring & Repair Technician performs leak detection, gas quantification, and minor mechanical repairs at customer facilities. Using Optical Gas Imaging (OGI), gas analyzers, and flow measurement equipment, the technician identifies fugitive emissions, measures leak rates, performs approved repairs, and verifies repair effectiveness. The role supports environmental compliance, product recovery, safety, and operational reliability across multiple industries.

The compensation range for this role is $50-60k/yr. Commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Perform OGI surveys to identify fugitive gas emissions.
  • Quantify emissions using approved measurement technologies.
  • Detect and quantify methane, CO₂, VOCs, refrigerants, and other industrial gases, depending on customer requirements.
  • Diagnose emission sources and determine appropriate repair actions.
  • Perform approved field repairs on valves, flanges, fittings, regulators, tubing, and other mechanical components.
  • Verify repair effectiveness through follow-up inspections and quantification.
  • Document findings, repairs, and recommendations in customer reporting systems.
  • Follow all customer safety procedures, work permits, and lockout/tagout requirements.
  • Travel to industrial facilities throughout North America.

Your Expertise and Skills

  • Experience in Oil and Gas industry (preference given to candidates with natural gas processing/transmission facility experience)
  • Effective computer skills (Excel and Microsoft Office are essential) and proficiency with Android OS
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts (days only)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Preference will be given to candidates with an associate or bachelor's degree in engineering technology or applicable technical degree/diploma; related work experience in hydrocarbon detection and measurement, LDAR, instrumentation or stack emission testing or a mechanical background are also preferred, but not required

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk and/or stand while handling/carrying various technical equipment for extended periods of time
  • Comfortable occasionally working at heights in a safe manner
  • Ability to lift 50lbs unassisted
  • Comfortable working outside in all-weather elements
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Willingness to travel
