As a Home Lending Credit Director within PNC's Risk Management organization, you will be located within PNC's footprint.

The Home Lending Credit Director is the senior executive responsible for the strategy, performance, governance, and risk management of PNC's residential real estate credit business. This includes mortgage, home equity, appraisal, residential construction, and condominium lending through the entire lifecycle of credit management. The role supports sound risk-taking by developing and assessing business strategies, policy changes, new products, external loan sales, securitizations, and portfolio performance.

This position partners with first- and second-line stakeholders to ensure mortgage and home equity strategies and processes remain aligned with PNC's credit risk appetite, regulatory expectations, client experience, investor requirements, and evolving industry and economic conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead independent development, review and challenge of mortgage and home equity credit strategies, including proposed changes to underwriting standards, credit policy, risk procedures, portfolio guardrails, and monitoring expectations. Responsible for these activities through the loan cycle covering originations, underwriting, servicing, account management, collections, default management, foreclosure, loss mitigation, charge-off, liquidation, and recovery.
  • Partner with the Credit Director for the Asset Management Group to design and monitor Home Lending credit strategies and processes for High Net Worth clients.
  • Assess external loan sale and securitization activities, including whole-loan sales, private-label securitizations, investor eligibility requirements, salability considerations, repurchase exposure, credit quality implications, and alignment with applicable PNC policy.
  • Provide strategic risk assessment for new product development and product expansion initiatives, including evaluation of target customer segments, underwriting criteria, collateral requirements, expected performance, operational readiness, controls, and risk appetite alignment across Retail and in partnership with the Asset Management Credit Director.
  • Monitor industry, regulatory, housing market, and economic trends and translate those insights into recommendations for updates to existing PNC mortgage and home equity strategies, policies, procedures, risk limits, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Evaluate portfolio trends and emerging risks, including credit quality, delinquency, collateral values, geographic concentrations, loan-to-value movement, borrower capacity, non-saleability risk, loss severity, and changes in economic conditions.
  • Challenge business cases and initiative proposals to ensure risk/reward tradeoffs are well understood, key assumptions are supported, controls are defined, success metrics are measurable, and escalation thresholds are established.
  • Partner with Product, Credit Policy, Capital Markets, Servicing, Default Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, Model Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, and Asset Management to ensure comprehensive risk identification and coordinated governance.
  • Prepare executive-level risk commentary, governance materials, and recommendations for senior management and relevant committees, including clear articulation of key risks, mitigating actions, open challenges, and required decisions.
  • Support examination, audit, and issue management activities by providing subject matter expertise on mortgage and home equity credit risk, policy expectations, control design, and lifecycle risk management practices.

    Develop and review business strategies, growth plans, acquisition or integration activity, channel expansion, and changes that may alter the risk profile of mortgage or home equity portfolios. Drive line of business partners to desired outcomes.
  • Loan sales and securitizations:
    Assess credit, operational, investor, regulatory, reporting, and policy considerations associated with loans originated for sale, securitization, or balance sheet retention.
  • New product development:
    Evaluate proposed product structures, eligibility criteria, customer impacts, collateral risk, profitability requirements, operational execution, controls, and post-launch monitoring.
