Public Utility Enforcement Officer; Cumberland & Franklin Counties

THE POSITION

Would you like to conduct independent work in a unique law enforcement setting which covers multiple counties? The Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC) has an exciting opportunity as a Public Utility Enforcement Officer covering Cumberland & Franklin Counties in Pennsylvania, which offers home-based work for the beginning and end of shift, as well as weekends and holidays off.

This role focuses on the safety of commercial motor vehicles and the protection of the motoring public across Pennsylvania. As an Enforcement Officer for the Public Utility Commission, you will perform the following duties:

• Vehicle Inspections:
  Inspect commercial motor vehicles to determine safe operating conditions
• Safety Enforcement:
  Place unsafe vehicles or drivers Out-of-Service when necessary
• Agency
  
  Collaboration:
  
  Work with State and Local Police during joint enforcement efforts
• Safety Audits:
  Conduct audits to ensure new motor carriers understand safety regulations and management practices

• Full-time, home headquartered employment.
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch period.
• Additional travel may be required.
• This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

• Four years of professional police experience; or
• Four years of enforcement experience with a governmental regulatory agency’s laws, rules and regulations pertaining to motor vehicles; or
• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in police sciences or law enforcement; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

• You must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

• Successful completion of training and safety courses within six months of employment.

• You must reside in or relocate to Cumberland or Franklin County within six months of employment.
