Overview
Rothman Orthopaedics is looking for a Medical Assistant to work in our Chalfont and Doylestown offices. Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 4:15 PM.
Job SummaryThe Certified Medical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.
Key Accountabilities- Increase patient satisfaction, ensure schedule prep, manage voicemail, end-of-day batching, time stamping, and compliance with clinical policies and procedures; monitor wait times and accuracy with pre-certifications and authorizations.
- Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room. Directs the patient throughout the experience, including orthotics, rehab, surgery scheduling, x-ray and/or front desk.
- Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares the room for patients.
- Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
- Provides and scans proper paperwork into the chart for Physician review.
- Obtains and records vitals per Physician request.
- Prepares injections for the Physician per protocols.
- Accesses x-rays, MRIs, CTs, and related reports pertinent to the patient’s exam.
- Assists patients with clothing when necessary.
- Disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps per OSHA regulations, and replaces sharps containers when full.
- Answers telephones in patient treatment areas.
- Requests, obtains, and uploads reports from various facilities for Physicians to review.
- Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen and assists the Physician with appointment order.
- Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.
- Completes pre-certifications for MRIs, injectables, and other Physician orders as necessary.
- Send Visco Injection authorization requests to supplement pre-certification.
- Covers other areas in the office as directed by their manager.
- Covers Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested.
- Maintains knowledge of fax logs.
- Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
- Reads and responds to email communications within an appropriate time frame.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
- Identifies weekly schedule, including changes, published by the manager.
- Handles specimens (urine, blood, drainage from incisions, and aspirated fluids) and labels accordingly; follows provider instructions to ensure specimens are sent to the appropriate lab for analysis.
- HS Diploma or GED
- Active National Medical Assistant Certification
- CPR Certification
- Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office preferred
- Medical office procedures and medical terminology knowledge
- Computer skills including MS Office Suite
$16.00/hr - $24.00/hr
