This opportunity is full-time or part-time with an 8‑hour shift option 7am‑3:30pm, 3pm‑11:30pm, 11pm‑7:30am or with a 12‑hour shift option 7am‑7:30pm, 7pm‑7:30am, and with either option rotating every other weekend to work.
The Meadows Psychiatric Center is the leading behavioral health treatment facility in Central Pennsylvania, located a short distance outside State College, PA. It is a 119 inpatient behavioral health hospital and has provided comprehensive services to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults for over 35 years.
The Mental Health Technician functions as an active part of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients ranging in ages from adolescent through geriatrics. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Responds to patient crisis events accordingly using de‑escalation techniques.
- Leads activity groups for patients according to the program schedule.
- Conducts patient observation rounds throughout the shift to ensure safety.
- Supervises patients in daily activities and assists the treatment team with therapeutic activities.
- Documents patient behaviors, condition, & progress.
- Monitors visitation regarding patient safety.

- A minimum of a High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Post‑secondary training or education in a related field with experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in a dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills, and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile.
