Assignment DurationThis is a 13-week contract position.
Job DescriptionThe Computed Tomography Technologist independently performs imaging procedures and a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative, applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities- Independently perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration.
- Adjust protocols using independent judgment and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for image data acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation according to protocol.
- Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and the use of power injectors according to set department and manufacturer protocols.
- Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and assess patients for potential risk factors before administration.
- Interact with patients and colleagues with high levels of care, respect, and effective communication.
- Provide clear instructions to patients and explain procedures to help ease their fears and solicit cooperation.
- Identify all patients properly using two identifiers and apply universal protocol during procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, adhering to departmental protocols for optimal results.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required and ensure proper coding and tracking of exams.
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired or at hire if already obtained.
- 2 years of experience is required.
- ARRT Certificate and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are mandatory.
- Must meet Pennsylvania Act requirements (Act 31, Act 33, Act 34, Act 73).
