About the Role
Brightside Academy is seeking an experienced Senior HR Business Partner to serve as a strategic HR partner to Academy and organizational leadership. This role will provide guidance across employee relations, HR operations, compliance, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee development, and HR best practices.
Key Responsibilities
SR HBPB will manage the Pittsburgh Region independently with partnership and collaboration with VP of HR and other team members in Philadelphia.
Partner with leaders on employee relations, HR policies, workplace concerns, and performance matters.
Manage and support HR operations, HRIS transactions, personnel records, and compliance requirements.
Partner with Talent Acquisition and leadership on onboarding, background clearances, and employee lifecycle processes.
Conduct and analyze exit interviews and employee trends to support retention initiatives for the Pittsburgh market.
Assist the Education team to track professional development, CDA progress, mentoring, and employee talent profiles.
Prepare HR reports and use workforce data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Support the VP of HR and leadership with HR strategies, process improvements, engagement, retention, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
Handle confidential employee matters with discretion and sound judgment.
Support and sometimes handle unemployment claims, hearings, pre-adverse employment communications, and other HR matters as needed for the Pittsburgh Market.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or a related field preferred.
10+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably with strong employee relations and HR operations experience.
Knowledge of HR policies, employment practices, compliance, and employee lifecycle processes.
Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters professionally.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Proficiency with HRIS and Microsoft Office.

We are looking for a self-motivated, solutions-oriented HR professional with strong employee relations expertise who can confidently partner with leaders and employees on complex workplace matters.
This role requires heavy employee relations support, including the ability to assess and address employee concerns, guide leaders through sensitive situations, and ensure HR practices are consistent and compliant. Strong knowledge of employment law is critical to effectively advise leadership, mitigate organizational risk, and support sound HR decision-making.
The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent judgment, discretion, communication skills, and the ability to balance employee needs with organizational requirements.
Additional Requirements: Primarily office-based, Monday–Friday during business hours. Flexibility and occasional overnight travel may be required.
