AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
Responsibilities
- Define, plan, and lead the technical direction for assigned AI initiatives.
- Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to align AI priorities with business outcomes.
- Mentor junior engineers and ensure knowledge sharing across the team.
- Contribute to cross-pod governance and represent the AI Accelerator in enterprise discussions.
- Architect and implement scalable, efficient, and secure AI or data systems.
- Drive the development of automation workflows and APIs that integrate with business tools.
- Utilize cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS/GCP) and MLOps frameworks for continuous delivery.
- Ensure code quality, testing, and maintainability through best development practices.
- Develop KPIs and success metrics for team deliverables.
- Oversee documentation, sprint planning, and backlog prioritization in agile environments.
- Ensure system monitoring, observability, and proactive issue resolution.
- Continuously optimize performance and cost efficiency of AI systems.
- Partner with Business Translators, UI/UX, and Change Management teams to translate needs into deployable AI solutions.
- Evaluate new technologies and frameworks that enhance automation or predictive insights.
- Drive innovation through hackathons, proof-of-concepts, and partnerships with vendors.
- Promote a culture of responsible AI, ethics, and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in AI, software, or data development.
- Experience with agentic orchestration frameworks (e.g. Langchain), vector databases (e.g. Pinecone), embedding models, RAG architecture, and LLM principles.
- Proven leadership in managing technical teams and delivering enterprise-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of agile methodologies and Dev Ops practices.
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, and oversee and guide colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare technology environments.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as GxP, HIPAA, and data privacy regulations.
- Demonstrated success in deploying AI or ML solutions in production environments.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $ to $. This position is eligible for procurement in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and participation in the share‑based long‑term incentive program. Comprehensive benefits include a 401(k) plan with Pfizer matching contributions, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, specific caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits covering medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage.
