Data Engineer​/Assoc. Commercial Data Architect

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with senior data leaders and commercial teams (sales, product strategy, market access, finance) to design data models supporting business goals.
• Document solutions via BRDs, functional specs, data dictionaries, ERDs, and process flows for technical and business audiences.
• Develop clear, scalable data solutions aligned with KPIs.
• Support a scalable business-facing data layer enabling consistent, trusted metrics and self-service analytics.
• Use Databricks and Azure to design lakehouse patterns, medallion architectures, and structured SQL Server schemas.
• Manage/improve datasets across customers, sales effectiveness, master data, and specialty pharmacy to ensure consistency, lineage, and reliability.
• Structure data for dashboards, forecasting pipelines, and performance tracking.
• Support integration and governance of pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., IQVIA Xponent, 867, specialty pharmacy feeds).
• Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders; validate requirements and clarify ambiguity.
• Implement data standards, naming conventions, and quality controls; resolve data quality issues early in the pipeline.

• 3+ years in data-related roles (data engineering, analytics engineering, BI, or similar).
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical area (CS, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or related).
• Strong knowledge of data modeling and SQL; modern data platforms (Databricks preferred, Azure Synapse, Snowflake, or similar).
• Experience with SQL and at least one modern cloud data platform.
• Exposure to ETL/ELT and data modeling concepts (star schema, normalized models, lakehouse patterns).
• Some experience working with business stakeholders.
• Experience with business-facing pharmaceutical data (e.g., Xponent Plantrak, 867, specialty pharmacy, marketing, finance, customer data).
• Experience creating BRDs, functional specs, data dictionaries, or process diagrams.
• Track record aligning data initiatives with business outcomes; clear communication and strong problem-solving.
