Insight Global is looking for a Kafka Engineer to join one of our largest financial clients onsite 2-3x a week in Jersey City, NJ or Pittsburgh, PA. They will be joining the Messaging team which supports enterprise Kafka platforms used across critical business applications. Engineers are responsible for the Kafka platform itself, including troubleshooting, automation, platform reliability, deployment support, and consulting with internal development teams.

This is not a role for developers who have merely used Kafka within applications. The team is seeking engineers with a deep understanding of Kafka internals who can diagnose platform issues, support production environments, and improve platform operations.

Engineer and support Kafka platforms in Unix/Linux environments. Troubleshoot production incidents and identify root causes. Analyze broker, topic, partition, replication, and consumer group issues. Develop automation using Python, Ansible, and scripting tools. Create operational tooling and automation playbooks. Consult with application teams on Kafka implementation and usage. Support deployments and ongoing platform enhancements. Partner with development, infrastructure, and security teams. Participate in project-based work focused on platform growth and modernization.
