** Position Summary
** The ASL Interpreter / Education Specialist provides professional American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services and individualized education al support to individuals receiving services through Pennsylvania's Office of Developmental Programs (ODP). This position ensures equal access to communication while promoting education al achievement, employment readiness, community participation, self-advocacy, independence, and person-centered outcomes. Services are delivered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and agency regulations.
** Position Scope
** This is a Per Diem, non-exempt, field-based position serving participants throughout Pennsylvania. Services are provided in education al, vocational, employment, medical, home, community, and virtual environments. The position requires independent scheduling, professional judgment, and local travel to assigned service locations while maintaining flexibility to meet participant and program needs.
** Key Responsibilities
** Provide accurate and culturally appropriate ASL interpreting and individualized ODP Education Support services in education al, employment, medical, home, community, and virtual settings. Support participants in achieving education al, vocational, and independent living goals while promoting self-advocacy and community inclusion. Collaborate with participants, families, educators, employers, Supports Coordinators, and interdisciplinary teams; maintain confidentiality and compliance with agency policies and applicable regulations;
complete timely and accurate documentation; participate in required meetings and training; and perform other assigned duties in support of One Well Health Care's mission.
** Regulatory Frameworks
** Must comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including:
* Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) requirements
* HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
* Pennsylvania Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ODHH) interpreter registration requirements
* Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
* One Well Health Care policies and procedures
* Applicable education al and professional ethical standards
** Confidentiality
* * Maintains strict confidentiality of all participant, employee, organizational, and protected health information in accordance with HIPAA, ODP requirements, agency policies, and applicable privacy regulations.
** Documentation Requirements
** Complete accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation for all services provided, including service notes, attendance records, participant progress, and other required agency or ODP documentation in accordance with established deadlines and documentation standards.
** Certifications
* ** Current state teaching credential or certification in ASL, Deaf Education , Special Education , or related education al field, as applicable to state requirements.
* Current certification or qualified status through the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA), at the minimum level required by program standards.
