Registered Nurse (RN) – STAIRS Program
Rate Range: $38.84 - $41.22 per hour
Shift: Saturdays & Sundays, 2 PM–10 PM, with on‑call responsibilities and fill‑in opportunities.
Location: Homestead area of Pittsburgh, PA
Position SummaryThe Registered Nurse in the STAIRS program plays a vital role in providing compassionate, high‑quality medical care to youth ages 6–21 with autism and developmental disabilities in an intensive residential treatment setting. The RN works as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting individuals with complex behavioral and medical needs who have not responded to treatment in less restrictive environments.
Key duties include monitoring and managing residents’ health, administering medications, coordinating care with physicians and psychiatric providers, supporting staff in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, assessing health concerns, providing first aid or medical interventions as needed, and educating residents and staff on health and wellness topics.
Primary Responsibilities- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
- Monitor residents' health status and respond to medical needs or emergencies.
- Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Provide health education to residents and staff.
- Document medical care, health updates, and interventions accurately.
- Support a safe, therapeutic environment for youth with complex behavioral and medical needs.
- Assist with crisis response as needed in coordination with clinical and direct care staff.
- Maintain compliance with all licensing, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Help youth with autism and complex behavioral needs make meaningful progress.
- Team‑based care with a skilled multidisciplinary team.

- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral health needs preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and documentation skills.
- Ability to respond to medical and behavioral crises calmly and effectively.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- State PA criminal, FBI, PA Act 168, and PA child abuse clearances required.
- Valid PA driver’s license with a three‑year driving record required.
