This position supports the delivery of essential health services within a secure correctional setting. You will help meet the daily medical needs of inmates through skilled and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support with daily living activities, hygiene, and restorative techniques.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments under supervision and document all actions.
- Observe and report physical and emotional changes in inmates.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid, CPR, or AED when needed.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records and prepare required medical reports.
- Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies.
- Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week.
- The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
- 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
- 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
- Work hours to be determined.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $68,914.00 (before taxes).
- Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within one (1) year according to the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this posting. At the time of appointment you must provide proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
