Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse role at the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs offers a chance to make a real difference every day. At the Southwestern Veterans Center, you will support veterans and spouses by providing dependable and compassionate care, building strong connections while working in a team that values respect and service.
Responsibilities- Health Assessment Support:
Assist the RN by checking resident health status and ensuring accurate and confidential documentation - Medication Management:
Administer medications and treatments, verify pharmacy orders, and maintain accurate records - Resident Observation:
Observe residents for changes or concerns and report findings while documenting daily care activities - Care Coordination:
Work with the RN to help plan and adjust resident care and participate in nursing committees when needed - Safety and Hygiene:
Ensure residents are clean, safe, and well‑groomed while supporting infection control practices - Specialized Care:
Provide focused care for residents in specialty units such as Alzheimer care
- Full‑time employment: 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week.
- Positions are available on the following shifts:
- 1st shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) with a 30‑minute lunch
- 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) with a 30‑minute lunch
- 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) with a 30‑minute lunch
- Rotating days and weekends. Working every other weekend is required.

Starting annual salary $68,914.00 (before taxes) for new hires in Pennsylvania. - DMVA Nursing Referral Program:
Eligible employees and referred candidates may receive payments of up to $4,000.
- Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Temporary practice permit holders must obtain licensure within one (1) year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
- PA residency requirement is waived for this title.
- If you have completed a licensed practical nursing program within 60 days, you may apply. Proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or Licensed Practical Nurse license must be shown at appointment.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Falls under the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory criminal history reports (e.g., PA State Police and FBI clearance).
- A conditional offer of employment may require satisfactory completion of a medical examination.
