JOB OVERVIEW
As an Aide Trainee with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), you will begin a rewarding path toward becoming a certified Nurse Aide. This role allows you to support veterans and their spouses by assisting with daily activities and learning hands‑on care skills. You will gain knowledge through both classroom and clinical training. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This role focuses on learning the skills needed to provide reliable, supportive care to residents while completing required training toward Nurse Aide certification. The work helps ensure that residents receive the daily assistance and attention they need. As an Aide Trainee, you will perform the following duties:
- Training Participation:
Attend classroom instruction and complete clinical learning to develop direct care skills - Resident Assistance:
Support residents with basic tasks, comfort needs, and movement throughout the facility - Care Environment:
Maintain clean, orderly resident areas and use infection control practices during all duties - Meal Support:
Help transport meal trays, encourage intake, and document required information - Equipment Care:
Clean basic medical equipment and ensure resident supplies are stocked - Resident Engagement:
Assist residents during activities, programs, and social events both on and off the unit
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 2nd shift (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM), with a 30‑minute lunch. You will work rotating days and every other weekend is required. Schedule adjustments will occur to accommodate schooling.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. § 7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
