Registered Nurse - SCI Huntingdon

Job Summary

Join SCI Huntingdon as a Registered Nurse and contribute to meaningful work that supports individuals with complex medical needs. This role allows you to use your skills to care for patients with injury, illness, or disability, providing hands‑on nursing care throughout the day.

• Nursing Care
  :
  Carry out nursing plans by checking vital signs, administering medications, and performing treatments.
• Health Assessment
  :
  Evaluate patient needs and adjust support to ensure proper care.
• Medical Support
  :
  Assist clinicians with exams, clinics, testing, and screenings.
• Emergency Response
  :
  Provide first aid, CPR, and AED, and refer patients for further medical attention.
• Record Keeping
  :
  Manage electronic health records, reports, and controlled substance documentation.
• Supply Maintenance
  :
  Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate stock levels in treatment areas.

• Full‑time employment, 40‑hour work week.
• The Department of Corrections operates three shifts 24/7. Schedule for the position will be determined:
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework is not an option for this position.
• Selected candidates new to employment in Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $89,882.00 (before taxes).

• Necessary Special Requirements
  :
  • Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • Employees with a temporary practice permit must obtain a registered nurse license within one year as defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
• Other Requirements
  :
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Applicants within 60 days of graduating from an approved nursing school may apply. At the time of appointment, proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
