Registered Nurse - Southwestern Veterans' Center (2nd, and 3rd Shift

The Position

Join the Southwestern Veterans Center as a Registered Nurse with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. This position provides nursing care and leadership to support the health and comfort of residents in a long term care setting. You will guide daily care, support communication, and ensure that nursing practices meet professional standards. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

• Resident Care: Provide nursing treatment, monitor conditions, and update care plans based on resident needs
• Medication Oversight: Dispense medications, review records, and check that assigned personnel follow proper procedures
• Team Leadership: Guide staff, assign tasks, and address concerns to maintain safe and effective care
• Communication Duties: Share important changes with supervisors, physicians, and families as needed
• Safety Practices: Follow all safety rules, report hazards, and use required protective equipment
• Documentation Tasks: Maintain accurate records, complete assessments, and support audits and reviews

Work Hours and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 8-hours/day-40-hours/week
• Positions are available on the following shifts:
• 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) with a 30 minute lunch
• 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) with a 30 minute lunch
• Working every other weekend is required.

• Salary:
  Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $93,888.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications Necessary Special Requirements:

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
